The experience with Lost in Africa was amazing. I did a 3 day trek to Mount Meru. They picked me up from my place in Arusha and it didn't take long to go through the initial gate. The wait at Momella gate was long - the porters needed to weigh their luggages and we had to wait for more people (I went solo, they were waiting for another group to turn up) so that the Arusha National park appointed ranger can take us all up together. The wait was about 2 hours long (be prepared for that). Walk up to the 2 huts - Mariakamba and Saddle hut was very beautiful, especially to Saddle hut where we could see the view of Kilimanjaro almost half of the time. There are some parts that were steep but still manageable. The huts were very clean, good facilities, awesome views. Walk up from saddle hut to summit was very tough but it was amazing to go through multiple terrains - volcanic scoria hills, windy scree slopes, rocky steep slopes. And finally to summit, where there's 360 viewpoint. You can see Arusha town, kilimanjaro, craters, etc. It's a beautiful view if the skies are clear. Amazing walk up to the summit and the guide, Ismael took really good care of me and checked my condition from Momella gate up to the summit. The porters were really nice, the cook/chef - David is amazing - he made really great delicious food, a lot of food especially vegetables. The team was amazing, great food, good company. Overall an amazing experience with the Lost in Africa team.
