Our Safari Overview
This is a private Hike up mount Meru with the shortest time possible, the total number of days for the package is 5 days (3 days hiking 1 day of arrival 1 day for departure). The arrival and departure days include airport transfers and a nights at a lodge. If you already in the country then the arrival and departure days should be disregarded. We’ve also provided two sets of prices for the full package 5 days and prices for just the 3 days of the climb
Mount Meru is the second highest peak in Tanzania and 5th highest mountain in Africa. You can climb it alone or as a warm- up climb in preparation for Kilimanjaro as usual. the technical requirements for climbing Meru are more extensive than climbing Kilimanjaro. Accommodation during the climb is in rustic wooden huts. Meru is not favorable to climb during the rainy seasons of (April & May).
Lost in Africa professional mountain guides are dedicated to you reach the top of Mount Meru hence fulfilling your goal/dream. They will adjust the pace accordingly and monitor your health periodically throughout the hike. You will be accompanied by your guide a cook and a team of porters (a crew of 8 people for 2 climbers). The more the climbers, the more the crew will be.

Detailed Itienerary
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or point of entry and be transferred to your accommodation followed by a pre-climb briefing and equipment check.

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Arusha national park’s Momella gate for registration and formalities before setting of with your guide and armed ranger. The ranger armed is there so you don’t get attack by wildlife such buffalo, hyenas, leopard which you will on first day of hiking along with the black and white colobus monkeys and a varied number of birds species. With an abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenes the walk to our first camp will be one to remember.

We will leave the forest zone and Mariakamba hut behind in the morning. We will then enter the alpine desert zone and be at the Saddle Hut by lunch time. We’ll have views of Mt Meru Crater and the ash tray when at the ridge of the saddle. After setting camp and having lunch, we will go for an afternoon walk to the summit of little Meru (3820m). we will enjoy breathtaking views and further acclimatization benefits before heading back to the saddle.

After breakfast, we leave for Serengeti North for a game drive seeing the incredible movement. Waterway intersections at Kogatende begins in August as the uber crowd sinks into the zone. Between August-October, game review is at its best with stream intersections basically ensured each day. There is no particular development as the crowds will in general traverse the waterway, following the downpours and consequent new grasses.

The next morning after the climb you’ll continue with your trip with a safari extension or be brought to the airport for your flight home or to Zanzibar. Thanks for Choosing Lost in Africa.
