Our Safari Overview
This is a private Hike up mount Meru with the shortest time possible, the total number of days for the package is 7 days (5 days hiking 1 day of arrival 1 day for departure). The arrival and departure days include airport transfers and a nights at a lodge. If you already in the country then the arrival and departure days should be disregarded. We’ve also provided two sets of prices for the full package 7 days and prices for just the 5 days of the climb.
For those who want to take their time and be sure that they reach the summit then this is the package to go for. Mount Meru is the second highest peak in Tanzania and 5th highest mountain in Africa. You can climb it alone or as a warm- up climb in preparation for Kilimanjaro as usual. the technical requirements for climbing Meru are more extensive than climbing Kilimanjaro. Accommodation during the climb is in rustic wooden huts. Meru is not favorable to climb during the rainy seasons of (April & May).

They will adjust the pace accordingly and monitor your health periodically throughout the hike. You will be accompanied by your guide a cook and a team of porters (a crew of 8 people for 2 climbers). The more the climbers, the more the crew will be.

Detailed Itienerary
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or point of entry and be transferred to your accommodation followed by a pre-climb briefing and equipment check
Meals included: Dinner. | Accommodation: Masailand safari lodge.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to Arusha national park’s Momella gate for registration and formalities before setting of with your guide and armed ranger. The ranger armed is there so you don’t get attack by wildlife i.e. buffalo, hyenas, leopards. With an abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenes the walk to our first camp will be one you’ll remember forever
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Mariakamba Hut.
We will leave the forest zone and Mariakamba hut behind in the morning. We will then enter the alpine desert zone and be at the Saddle Hut by lunch time. We’ll have views of Mt Meru Crater and the ash tray when at the ridge of the saddle. After setting camp and having lunch, we will go for an afternoon walk to the summit of little Meru (3820m). we will enjoy breathtaking views and further acclimatization benefits before heading back to the saddle.

Our climb to the summit will begin around midnight. The steep trail will bring us to rhino point before taking us further to cobra point. It’ll continue along the ridge of ash to the summit (socialist peak 4565m). At the summit we’ll enjoying magnificent views of the sunrise and Kilimanjaro which is normally clearly seen from the east. We’ll start our descent after to Saddle Hut for brunch and then proceed to Mariakamba Huts.

After breakfast and having enjoyed the views for one last time, you and your guide will continue with you descend on the familiar terrain to Mariakamba Hut. We will leave behind the alpine desert zone and be at Mariakamba hut by lunch time. We will set camp at Mariakamba hut for the night in preparation for our final day

On this last day, we’ll descend with haste to the Momella Gate. We’ll say our goodbyes to the crew have and engage on a short game drive before being transferred back to our hotel in Arusha.

The next morning after the climb you’ll see the start of you extension weather it’s a wildlife safari or a relaxation to Zanzibar. If you are departing then you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
