Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park.

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, world famous for its tree climbing lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, flamingos, leopards and a magnificent bird life. The Park is set out on east Africa’s stunning Rift Valley landscape and has varied habitats: ranging from acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, hot springs, swamps and the Lake itself where all its animals can be found. Well also visit the hot water spring in Lake Manyara where the water flows through volcanic rock and comes out so hot that it burns to the touch (it is said that the water is hot enough to boil an Egg we dare you to bring one for trial). We’ll have a picnic lunch in lake Manyara and in the evening we’ll slowly exit the park and drive up the rift valley escarpment to our lodge nested in Karatu highlands.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Karatu Simba Lodge.

Day 3: Lake Natron (waterfall and Flamingos).

After breakfast we will transfer to Lake Natron which is perhaps the most important breeding site for flamingos in the world. It is also the only breeding site for these beautiful birds in East Africa. The reddish pink hue or even orange, (in the shallow parts) that the lake sometimes has because of the alkali salts and microorganisms living in it and filled with thousands of flamingos is a sight to see. On top of visiting the lake and learning about its eco system, you will also take a short hike and visit the beautiful Engarasero Waterfall and enjoy a swim in its cool waters.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Lake Natron tented Camp.

Day 4: Lake Natron (Oldonyo Lengai Active volcano mountain Hike).

For those that chose to climb Oldonyo Lengai, the climb will start today before midnight (so technically the night of day 3) so as to reach the top before sunrise. The aim is for the sunrise to catch you at the top. You will leave with your local mountain guide heading up the only active volcano mountain in East Africa Mt Oldonyo Lengai. The climb is a challenge in itself due to the terrain so be prepared. Even though climbing starts before midnight so we can be at the top before sunrise it can take longer at times to reach the top where you will arrive way past sunrise. After the hike, you will head back to the lodge for a meal and freshening up before leaving Natron for our lodge in the Ngorongoro highlands.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Karatu Simba Lodge.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park.

Early in the morning transfer to the endless plains of the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro conservation area. Serengeti is home to millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles, over 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, cheetahs and many more. The Serengeti, a park that’s probably more famous than the country it’s in is well known for its magnificent wildlife and eco system. We will get to witness its wonders and see Mother Nature at its wildest yet finest. Our game drive will begin shortly after being done with the formalities and entering the Serengeti gates and will continue till late evening where will make our way to our Lodge for the night.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Serengeti Simba Lodge/ Mbugani camp.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park.

Enjoy the sunrise in Serengeti followed by a morning of game driving before heading back to the lodge for brunch. We will get lost in the plains while learning of its animals in their natural habitat and exploring what it has to offer which consist of a healthy number of lions (some say the largest concentration of lions in the world) and other big cats. Late in the afternoon, we will make our way back to the lodge for an evening of relaxation and reminiscing on the scenes from earlier in the day.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Serengeti Simba Lodge/ Mbugani camp.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park.

Today, will be another great day in the Serengeti and depending on the season, we might get the chance to track the great wildebeest migration pattern. We will get to see big predators and scavengers and how they follow the migration pattern using every opportunity they get to hunt for food in order to survive, we also learn the impact of the migration and why it happens. In the afternoon we will head back to our lodge after a sunset in the Serengeti for another night in the wilderness.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. | Accommodation: Serengeti Simba Lodge/ Mbugani camp.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater.

We will also have the optional opportunity of visiting a Maasai Boma (village) should you choose to see how this magnificent tribe lives in a primitive manner. After a fantastic day full of wildlife, you will ascend from the crater and transfer back our accommodation for a night of relaxation and unwinding.
